Puerto La Tuna site (excavation VII) is located on the right bank of the Santa Lucia river, being the radiocarbon dating obtained related to the time of Euro-American contact. This paper explores the possible links between ceramics with different surface treatments (the selection was based on decorative types defined in previous work) and the different uses that they may have had. We present the results of the analysis of fatty acids (GC-MS) and microfossils (phytolith and starch analysis, etc.), this is supplemented with information from ethnohistorical sources that provide data about plant and animal resources in the region of Río de la Plata and Uruguay rivers which were possibly used by the groups that were in this area between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
