El mercado como una esfera de la libertad social

Axel Honneth ha intentado explicar las luchas por el reconocimiento de nuestras sociedades contemporáneas en términos de pretensiones normativas para el logro de una autorrelación no distorsionada. Sin embargo, ha recibido numerosas objeciones de parte de Nancy Fraser, la más importante de las cuales es la necesidad de complementar las exigencias de reconocimiento con las de redistribución de bienes y servicios. Consecuentemente, Honneth ha reelaborado su teoría, para dar cuenta de que el mercado es una esfera de la libertad social, es decir que está estructurado para garantizar la complementariedad y el reconocimiento mutuo. Sin embargo, Honneth no logra tampoco demostrar esta tesis. Por lo tanto, su teoría no logra fundamentar pretensiones normativas de reformular las reglas del mercado.   Axel Honneth has tried to explain the struggle for recognition of contemporary society in terms of the normative pretensions to the achievement of an undistorted self-relation. Nevertheless, his explanation has been the subject of several objections by Nancy Fraser, the most important of which is the necessity to complement the requirements of recognition with those of the redistribution of goods and services. Consequently, Honneth has reworked his theory to account for the marketplace as a sphere of social freedom, that is, what is structured to guarantee the complementarity and mutual recognition. However, Honneth cannot demonstrate this thesis either. Therefore, this theory cannot ground the normative pretensions to reformulate the rules of the market.
