La patología genética de la aorta tiene como expresión más frecuente la dilatación o el aneurisma de la aorta torácica (AAT). La prevalencia del AAT en la población se ha estimado en 10,4 por 100.000 personas/año. (1) En más del 20% de los AAT se observan antecedentes familiares de patología aórtica, lo que pone en evidencia una importante contribución genética. (2) Más de 30 genes han sido relacionados con el desarrollo de AAT. (3) La patología aórtica genética puede expresarse de forma sindrómica o aislada.

The most frequent expression of genetic aortic diseaseis dilatation or thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA). Theprevalence of TAA in the general population is 10.4per 100,000 persons/year. (1) More than 20% of patientswith TAA have a family history of aortic disease,indicating an evident genetic contribution. (2)More than 30 genes have been associated with the developmentof TAA. (3) Genetic aortic disease includessyndromic or isolated non-syndromic expressions.
