Comparative analysis of the audit studies of RISU and MESCA

This article aims to review and compare the latest audit studies for universities on sustainability conducted in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean. One in the English speaking countries of the regions, MESCA in 2012, and a second one in 10 Latin American countries, RISU in 2014. Both studies have developed a set of indicators to be applied in the participant universities. The article focuses on the comparison followed by both approaches regarding methodology and content of the indicators. Finally, both are analyzed and compared looking into the study results, conclusions, and their methodological strengths and weaknesses. In the future, this study might function as a starting point from which researchers that conducted the studies can look for synergies and enhance further South-South cooperation between the two initiatives.
