After half a century. The historiography and the History of Argentine Exports during the First Globalization

Hace cincuenta años, Roberto Cortes Conde, Tulio Halperin Donghi y Haydée Gorostegui de Torres realizaron uno de los esfuerzos más serios por reconstruir la estadística de exportación argentina. Con motivo del aniversario, en este artículo nos proponemos revisar cuánto ha progresado desde entonces la historiografía en el conocimiento de las exportaciones durante la llamada Primera Globalización: ¿ha avanzado en la construcción de información más fiable?, ¿cuáles han sido los debates más importantes?, ¿cuáles fueron los principales aportes? y ¿aún existen vacíos?

One of the most serious attempts to reconstruct the Argentine export statistical data was done by Roberto Cortes Conde, Tulio Halperin Donghi and Haydée Gorostegui de Torres fifty years ago. In this paper we propose to review how the historiography has improved our knowledge about Argentine exports during the so-called First Globalisation since then: has it advanced in more reliable data? Which have been the major discussions? Which have been the main contributions? And, is there any gap?
