GEOLOGÍA Y ESTRUCTURA DE LA ALTA CORDILLERA DE SAN JUAN (30ºLS): CONTRIBUCIONES DE GROEBER A SU CONOCIMIENTO;
GEOLOGY AND STRUCTURE OF THE HIGH ANDES OF SAN JUAN (30º S): GROEBER CONTRIBUTIONS TO ITS GEOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE

El conocimiento geológico de la Alta Cordillera sanjuanina entre los 29º30´y 30º LS  se inicia a partir del fundacional aporte de Pablo Groeber con motivo de la publicación en 1951 de su trabajo sobre la geología de la Alta Cordillera entre las latitudes 34° y 29°30´ latitud sur (Groeber 1951) que incluye la Hoja Geológica Las Tórtolas a escala 1:200.000. En él describe las principales unidades del basamento sedimentario carbonífero, las unidades volcánicas e intrusivas del Choiyoilitense, los extensos depósitos volcánicos que asignó al Huincanlitense, y los conglomerados dislocados del Tristecense. El principal objetivo de este trabajo es analizar las observaciones realizadas por Groeber en su viaje realizado en 1930, y contrastarlo con los últimos estudios efectuados en contribuciones científicas de la región por diversos autores. De esta manera, se integra la información geológica presentando un mapa geológico actualizado a igual escala que el presentado por Groeber en la Hoja Las Tórtolas, junto a dos secciones estructurales que interpretan la estructuración geológica de la región.

The geological knowledge of the High Andes of San Juan between 29º30´y 30º S began with the pioneer work of Pablo Groeber in 1951, when he published the Hoja Las Tórtolas. In that contribution, he described the main carboniferous sedimentary basement units, the volcanic and intrusive rocks that he assigned to the Choiyoilitense, the extended Huincanlitense volcanic rocks and the Tristecense conglomerate deposits. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the observations made by Groeber in 1930, comparing them with the latest scientific studies conducted by various authors in the region. Thus, we integrate the geological observations in a geological map at the same Groeber´s original scale, and two structural sections that contribute to the knowledge of the geological evolution of the region.
