El objetivo del artículo es presentar un panorama de los repositorios de acceso abierto de las Instituciones de Educación Superior en México, se realizó un análisis de once repositorios mediante la primera fase de la metodología SCOT donde se destaca, por un lado, las ventajas de incluir la producción académica en este tipo de repositorios y, por otro, los desafíos que esto puede tener a nivel institucional para sus responsables y a nivel personal para los autores de los materiales educativos. Se aportan elementos de discusión para la comunidad académica y científica que decida involucrarse en este tema. Se analizan los repositorios de las IES de México registrados con mayor número de recursos en OpenDOAR uno de los directorios de mayor aceptación a nivel mundial, y se concluye que estos repositorios son una alternativa significativa de visibilidad de recursos, que se mantiene una tendencia creciente en cantidad y calidad de recursos alojados en los repositorios de acceso abierto. Asimismo, es importante evidenciar políticas e implementar procedimientos que aseguren su calidad y capacitar al personal involucrado en el mantenimiento del repositorio, ya que se requiere de un equipo de trabajo holístico.

The aim of this article is to present an overview of the open access repositories ofHigher Education Institutions in Mexico. An analysis of eleven repositories throughthe first phase of the SCOT methodology was carried out, highlighting, on one hand,the advantages of including academic production in this type of repositories and, onthe other hand, the challenges that this may have for the authors at a personal level,and fot the institutions by those responsible for them. Elements of discussion areprovided for the academic and scientific community that decides to get involved inthis topic. The repositories of the Mexican IES registered with the largest number ofOpenDOAR (one of the most widely accepted directories worldwide) resources areanalyzed and it is concluded that these repositories are an interesting alternative forthe visibility of resources, which maintains a growing trend in quantity and quality ofresources housed in the open access repositories, it is also important to evidence andimplement policies and procedures that ensure their quality and train the personnelinvolved in the maintenance of the repository, since it requires a holistic work team.
